ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT GRANTS FOR OYSTER-PRODUCING ESTUARIES AND CATCHMENTS
Individual grants of up to $8,000 are available for oyster farmers to implement their EMS priorities and make environmental improvements to their operations, shed and lease areas. Projects may include converting old cultivation infrastructure such as tarred sticks and trays to more environmentally friendly products like floating plastic baskets. Grants of up to $25,000 are also available to landholders, NRM groups and people in any farming industry for works that will improve estuarine water quality and native vegetation in oyster-producing catchments (see map in Application Guidelines).
Eligible projects include revegetation or fencing of river and creek banks, inter-tidal areas and biodiversity corridors; erosion control works; off-stream stock watering facilities; effluent mitigation; and education and awareness raising activities.

FUNDING AVAILABLE TO IMPROVE WOODLAND AND RAINFOREST HEALTH
Landholders in the Illawarra are invited to submit proposals for funding to the Southern Rivers Catchment Management Authority’s Escarpment to Sea program. The program offers free advice and funding to assist the conservation of native vegetation including Woodland and Sub Tropical Rainforest and to reduce the impacts of Weeds of National Significance in these areas. Activities that may be funded include:
- Fencing to manage grazing impacts on native vegetation
- Management of Lantana and Blackberry
- Revegetation to establish habitat corridors that link, improve or buffer targeted vegetation.

Primary producers and Indigenous land managers can apply to be reimbursed up to $1,500 per financial year to attend approved training courses. FarmReady Reimbursement Grants of up to $1,500 per year are available for eligible participants to attend approved training courses, with funding also available for travel, childcare and accommodation expenses.
The Australian Government has allocated $26.5 million over four years to boost training opportunities for primary producers, and to enable industry, farming and natural resource management groups to develop strategies to adapt and respond to the impacts of climate change.
To be eligible to receive the Reimbursement Grant, you must be a:
- primary producer (which includes farmers, fishers and foresters)
- immediate family member of a primary producer
- member of the management team of a primary production enterprise or
- Indigenous land manager.

SMALL GRANTS FOR SMALL RURAL COMMUNITIES PROGRAM
A small grants program for small rural Australian communities will offer about $900,000 a year in grants to benefit people in rural and remote communities. Not-for-profit organisations can apply for projects and activities that benefit communities, including environmental benefits.
